Basketball Star Achieves Another Honor
May 26, 2022
Senior Jalen Franklin earned another honor for his impressive high school career in boys basketball after he was named a second-team selection on the Class 5A All-State boys basketball team as voted by the Pennsylvania Sports Writers.
This came after scoring the most points in school history.
Franklin was also named as the YAIAA Division II Player of the Year by the division’s coaches.
He was the only York-Adams boys basketball player that was honored in any of the six PIAA classifications.
This past season, Franklin averaged 22.1 points per game, 3.7 assists per game, 4.8 rebounds per game and 3.8 steals a game.
Franklin speaks on what this year has taught him as a basketball player.
“The biggest lesson that it has taught me is that hard work pays off,” Franklin said. “I work on my game a lot and it is a misconception that you get good in a year, 2 years, 3 years, but not really [since] we’ve been working at this for a long long time.”
Franklin realizes his hard work is paying off after many years of training and has achieved most, if not all of his high school goals.
“To see the accolades and achievements start to pile up means a lot,” Franklin said. “It feels good because these are some of the things coming into the high school you put on your bucket list and as a senior, I pretty much crossed off a whole lot of stuff I had on there.”
Franklin has not yet committed to any college.
