Hallman Takes Featured Artist Spotlight
April 27, 2022
Every year, the high school´s Art and Technology fair displays some of the students’ creative work as well as having a community featured artist.
This year the featured community artist is Heath Hallman, a teacher in the Susquehannock English department.
Hallman’s preferred artist medium is acrylic paint, and he has been painting for about 15 years.
“I took an art class when I was in high school and in college as well, but I never really pursued it until I started working here,” Hallman said. “I became friends with the art teachers and started looking at some of the projects the students were doing and thought it was kind of neat.”
Hallman turned a family room in his house into an art studio shortly after his daughters moved out.
“It has been a hobby ever since,” Hallman said.
Wesley Myers is the art teacher of the high school and can’t wait to show off the work of his students as well.
“This is essentially the one and only time of the entire year when our creative individuals can publicly showcase their talents,” Myers said.
The show will be open from 5-8 p.m. and then will be immediately torn down at 8 p.m.
Wade Bowers, the Graphic Communications teacher, also is displaying the hard work of his students within the show.
“The show displays a wide variety of work including the fine arts, photography, graphic arts, woodworking, metalworking, baked goods and sometimes fashion,” Bowers said.
As the featured artist, Hallman will have a small station set up in the main gym during the fair.
The fair will run from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27.
