Writing Center Holds Writing Workshop

The Susky Writing Center is hosting a writing workshop the week of March 22-26.

For any students that want to or are recommended to come to the workshop, the SWC is offering in-person and Google meet times to assist more people.

Junior Grace Knepper is the SWC director this year, and she’s been working hard to keep the center going.

“Most of my time organizing the workshop has been spent trying to grab the student body’s attention,” said Knepper. “I’ve reached out to teachers, urging them to recommend their students come to our workshop and the announcements so that students are more likely to hear about the workshop. If this workshop is successful, then we will probably plan another one towards the end of the fourth marking period!”

Knepper is supported by the help of librarian Kayse Corrieri in the Writing Center.

“The writing workshop was the brainchild of Gracie and I, while trying to navigate distance, communicate with everyone and stimulate interest and incentives in students who may not know where to go for help,” said Corrieri. “We are very hopeful that students take advantage of this opportunity. I want to encourage students to consider attending our workshop. If you are having trouble with writing assignments in school or organizing your thoughts, don’t wait! Be your own advocate and get some help. Our tutors are the best!”

SWC would also like to offer any revision, rewrite or improvement credit for students as motivation to improve the work.

The times the workshop is available are block five on Tuesday, March 23 (A Day) or Thursday, March 25 (B Day).

In-person and Google Meet times are available. 

It will be held in the library or on a virtual meet only by reserving an appointment in the library and receiving a pass through Correri or via email via Knepper.

On the scheduled day, a reminder will be received via email with an in-person or Google meet time.

It is asked that a writing sample, assignment or specific areas of concern be brought with each appointment. 

For example, help can be found in English, social studies, or science with, DBQ’s, FRQ’s, lab write-ups, technical writings, paragraphs and essays.
