SMS Holds Geography Bee

January 2, 2019

Congratulations to the students who participated in the Southern Middle School Geography Bee.  All middle school students participated in a preliminary round to see who qualified.  Following the qualifying test, the top seven students advanced in the school’s competition where they answered questions about world geography.  The top seven students who competed in the final rounds were Vincent Chen, Chase Eckert, Ethan Ewell, Nevin Good, Mateo Ramirez-Snell, Ian Rosul, and Robert Rosul.

The top two students proceeded to the championship round, where they answered questions to determine the school’s champion.  Seventh grader, Robert Rosul and eighth grader, Ethan Ewell, advanced to this year’s championship round of competition.  Robert Rosul took first place during the single elimination round.  Robert Rosul will now take another test in January to see if he qualifies for the state competition. In order to find out who placed third, Chase Eckert and Ian Rosul had a tie-breaker with additional questions.  In the end, Chase Eckert got a question right and became the third place winner.
