May 17, 2017
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 proved to be just as good as the first film when it came soaring into theaters on May 4.
The action-packed summer blockbuster has been anticipated by many Marvel fans ever since its predecessor was released in 2014. Now the guardians have fans anticipating the third film in the series as well as seeing them fight side by side with the Avengers in The Avengers: Infinity War.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 follows Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot as they fight new enemies and get themselves in all sorts of trouble. From facing off against the new main antagonist Ego, to escaping the wrath of the Sovereign, the guardians find themselves in loads of comedic trouble that makes this movie an action-packed comedy.
The film primarily follows Star-Lord, the team’s leader, as he discovers the identity of his real father Ego and proceeds to follow in his footsteps. By the end of the film, Star-Lord and the rest of the guardians come to find out that Ego is trying to take over the universe, and now they must save the galaxy once again.
Other minor plots in the movie followed Gamora and Nebula reconciling, and Yondu, Rocket and Groot as they escape being hostages of The Ravagers. Despite there being several plots throughout the film, it all played out smoothly in the end.
The film is filled with witty humor, spectacular special effects that makes the movie worth seeing in 3D and deep character development that makes each of the characters even more loveable.
Several new characters introduced in the film proved to be a great addition to the universe as well. Ego, portrayed by Kurt Russel, caused a lot of trouble for the guardians but proved to be a memorable antagonist for the heroes. Mantis, an alien who has the power to feel what other characters feel by touching them, provided a great amount of humor and is a worthy new member for the guardians.
Already breaking box office records, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is leading the guardians towards a successful future and has fans anticipating for the third film.
The Guardians of the Galaxy will return in The Avengers: Infinity War, fighting side by side with other heroes featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year in May 2018.
