Susquehannock Theatre Presents Fall Play, The Crucible

November 12, 2015

Susquehannock High School Theatre presents its fall play, The Crucible, November 20-22, 2015 at the Richard D. Hupper Auditorium. Arthur Miller’s, The Crucible, is an American play based on the Salem witch trials that occurred in Massachusetts during the 1690’s.

Miller’s play debuted in the 1950’s, during the heightened period of the Red Scare, when many Americans were punished after being accused of practicing communism. The play contains allegories between witchcraft and communism.

The production will feature on-stage seating for the audience, for a more intimate seating experience. “Due to the nature of the show, seating the audience closer to the action will make them feel like they are a part of the show,” Producer and Promotions Director Heather Jenkins said. “This really draws the audience into the show and makes them feel like they are a part of the history we are enacting. For example, in the courtroom scene, the set is arranged so the audience will feel like they are inside the courtroom with the characters.”

The performance times include Friday, November 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Ticket prices for adults are $6.00 ($7.00 at the door); and $5.00 ($6.00 at the door) for students/senior citizens.
