High School Students Shine in Annual Computer Fair

Melissa Lynch earned first place in Graphic Design. and advances to the state competition.

Four Susquehannock High School students excelled in the regional competition of the Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair with three first place results and one second place finish. In addition, for a fifth year, a Susquehannock student placed first in the Graphic Design category. The three top finishers will advance to the state competition in May.

The regional competition was comprised of student entries from York, Adams, and Franklin Counties. The Susquehannock students competed in three categories:  Computer Fair Logo, where they designed the logo for next year’s competition; Graphic Design, where they created a logo, menu, and marketing materials for a fictitious restaurant; and Digital Movie, where they produced and directed a short film to express their opinions and creativity.

Junior Dan Pergrin finished first in Computer Fair Logo, senior Nick Snyder-Umezawa placed first in Digital Movie, and senior Melissa Lynch earned first place in Graphic Design. Furthermore, senior Hannah Wistort placed second in Graphic Design.

“I am very proud to announce that five out of the past six years, our students have taken home first place in the Graphic Design category,” said Susquehannock High School art teacher Wade Bowers.

Pergrin, Snyder-Umezawa, and Lynch continue to the state competition on May 19, 2015 at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa.
