Senior Caleb Bryant is excited for the biggest season in his 13 years of golf.

“I love the game of golf. I find it one of the most challenging sports played by any athlete,” said Bryant. “ It’s the finesse of the game that intrigues me, and I like the challenge that it brings.”

Bryant has been golfing with his dad and grandfather since he was young. He has been inspired by the both of them to continue to golf throughout his high school years and into college.

“Being able to golf beside my dad and compete against him on the course is always fun,” said Bryant.

As well as golfing beside his father and grandfather, Bryant is also inspired by professional golfer Rory McIlroy.

“He is definitely my favorite golfer because of his behavior on the field,” said Bryant. “No matter how he plays he always seems to enjoy himself.”

Compared to past seasons, Bryant has done extremely well this year for the golf team. He has qualified for first round districts which take place on Friday, October 3.

According to custodian Joanie Krebs, Bryant has been on the top of his game the past few matches.

“I’m very proud that Caleb is my grandson,  out of the 100 kids that are participating I think Caleb can definitely make it to the top 50 of districts,” said Krebs.

Outside of school, Bryant golfs on a regular basis. He has won the Bon Air Club Championship and the Jr. Championship four times in the past few years.

“Winning…the Club Championship was a goal I have [striven] for the past few years,” said Bryant.

Although Bryant’s season ended with districts last year, he plans to work his way to states his year.

“I believe I have the potential to make it to states, so if I apply myself and practice hard, I should have no problem achieving my goal,” said Bryant.

After high school, Bryant wants to play golf in college.
