Girls Soccer Kicks into Gear

The girls soccer team  has won seven of its last nine games and is undefeated in their division at 7-0. This is a colossal advancement from last season, where the team struggled to put together five wins throughout the entirety of the season.

The girls now have a new coach, Pat Brubaker, replacing Scott Austin from last season. The captains of the team include senior Melissa Lynch, junior Maddy Mummert, junior Emily Landis, and senior Brooke McGee.

Junior Emily Landis has high standards set so far for the season. “I think we can make it to Counties and eventually Districts,” said Landis. “We can’t let ourselves get too overly confident, and if we can control that, I think we’ll be fine.”

Senior Maddie Ketterer also has her hopes set high. “I expect to be undefeated in our division for the rest of the regular season,” said Ketterer. “We have a lot of good players on our team, and I think we could seriously do some damage to our opponents in the postseason.”

Senior Melissa Lynch is also very proud of her team and how far they have come. “A lot of players have stepped up this season,” said Lynch. “I had high expectations for myself and our team coming into this season, and I hope to keep them there. We’ve had to overcome a lot of injuries on our team, but with the help of Trainer Mike we were able to work through them and get back on the field.”

The team is rated at number 19 in the state, which is remarkable for a school as small as AA. The girl’s team is six games ahead of its closet division adversary, Dover, and hopes to keep it that way.

The girls team intends to keep the ball rolling this Thursday night at home against Spring Grove.
