World series coverage

The Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Lions faced off in the American League Championship to see who would claim the spot in the six games of regulation of World Series.

  The Tigers started out solid in Boston, winning the first game (1-0). The Red Sox quickly retaliated with a win over the Tigers 6-5 with the help of the designated hitter, David Ortiz’s grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning. Game three resulted in a Red Sox win (1-0), but the Tigers came back to win in game four over the Red Sox (7-3). The Red Sox go on to win the next two games 4-3 and 2-5 and killed the Tigers dreams of entering the World Series.

  Junior Caleb Bryant has his own opinion as to why the Red Sox won.

“It was the home field advantage and the excellent pitching that led them to where they’re going,” said Bryant. “John Lackey did an amazing job shutting down the Tiger’s offense.”

  During the National League Championship, the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers faced off in St. Louis Missouri, the cardinals home stadium. In the first two games the Cardinals had a full head of steam winning them both, game one 3-2 and game two 1-0. In game three the Dodgers battled back with a 3-0 win. The Cardinals retaliated with a 4-2 win in game 4.

  With the World Series on the line in game five the Dodgers ended up with a win 6-4 late in the game. The Cardinals winning 9-0 leading them to face Boston in the World Series.

  Freshman Conor Miller cited unified elements of the game as to why the cardinals moved on to the World Series.

“It was the veteran defense, starting pitching, and unity that brought the cardinals to face the Red Sox” said Miller. “I predict the cardinals in 6” Miller predicts the world series.

  Game one of the World Series was on Wednesday, October 23; Boston won 8-1 with a homerun by David Ortiz and multiple errors by the Cardinals’ defense. The Cardinals then tied the series up winning game two 4-2.

    Caleb Bryant believes that the Red Sox deserve to win the series.

“They had a rough season, they have come along way,” said Bryant. they started out with a losing record but turned around their season and looked like a team.
