Officer Darryl Smuck, with over 24 years of experience in law enforcement and a certified paramedic, has been appointed as the new Student Resource Officer (SRO) at the district’s high school.
His background in both public safety and emergency medical services makes him highly qualified to support the school’s security efforts and to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.
Principal James Sterner praised Officer Smuck’s experience, noting that his expertise will greatly benefit the school.
“He’s dedicated to safety and will help strengthen our security efforts,” Sterner said. “His presence will make a meaningful difference in maintaining a safe and supportive atmosphere.”
Smuck shared his excitement about the role, emphasizing the importance of creating an environment built on trust.
“This role is a chance to combine my law enforcement experience with supporting education,” he said. “I want to make sure

everyone feels safe at SHS.”
