SMS SPELLING & GEOGRAPHIC BEES

The Spelling and Geographic Bee are coming up soon.  Last year, Southern York County School District had four students represent SMS in the televised Regional Scripps Spelling Bee and they won numerous prizes. We have also had a student compete at the State Geographic Bee Competition last year. We want to continue this level of excellence!

These competitions are a great opportunity for your child to shine for either their geography skills or spelling and vocabulary skills. For each Bee there will be a classroom spelling bee qualifier quiz taken during social studies class in October for student to earn their spot in school-wide Bee. The school-wide Spelling Bee will be held in November. The school-wide Geographic Bee will be held in December.

The students can prepare for the Spelling Bee and Geographic Bee by studying the materials that are available in google classroom in the class “SMS Shines”.
