Color guard recieves 3rd Place in competition

The Color Guard received third place out of ten on Saturday, February 23 at their Keystone Indoor Drill Association (KIDA) competition at Littlestown High School.
In their KIDA competition, the color guard spun to the song “Jar of Hearts” by Christina Perri, opening up with a duet with Jason Hagel on rifle and Haley Jacque dancing beside him.
As the show progressed, Jacque and Hagel were joined by their fellow guard members including Sara Bailey, Ally Lily, Ashley Rosenberger, Miranda Nagel, Julie Kingsborough, and Mackenzie Brose.
Instructing the color guard are Sarah Mowery and Ted McCadden, who helped push the group to succeed.
Music teacher Christian Poole helps oversee color guard activity as well.
“[The color guard] did really well and surprised us at how they scored higher than our closest competitor, York Suburban,” Poole explained.
Junior color guard member Sara Bailey knows practice has helped the color guard to improve.
“In this competition we did a lot better than last time. The more we have practiced the better we have gotten,” said Bailey. “We practice Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 PM to 9:00PM  and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 P.M..”
The Color Guard improved in this competition; they received third place, where as in their previous one they came in fifth out of ten.
Jacque, one of the group’s soloist, understands that the group performed well, but believes that color guard still has room for improvement.
“We did well, although we definitely have room to improve in how we perform skill wise,” Jacque said.
Color guard continues to work diligently to move towards improvement.
