The Rams are not an easy team to beat. With Olympic prospect Chance Marsteller at the helm, they are one tough opponent. The final score of the match was 37-42, a win for the Rams. Sophomore Ray Wenger had the honor to wrestle Marsteller in a 160 pound bout. So far, Marsteller is 43-0 this season. The match didn’t last long, but Wenger fought Marsteller well, almost getting the first takedown in Marsteller’s career. Wenger gave his perspective on the match.

“It was a great experience wrestling [Marsteller]. It was a hard match for me, but I can tell my children that I wrestled an Olympic prospect,” said Wenger.
The lack of wrestlers this season has been the dominating challenge for the team. Each wrestler not present results in a forfeit.
Sophomore varsity wrestler Ray Wenger lent his feelings on the boys’ season so far.
“[We did] not [do] so well. We didn’t have the numbers, but we did well with who we had,” said Wenger.
While coach Joe Dominic felt the boys always put up a fight during their matches, he felt the lack of wrestlers brought the team down.
“The season hasn’t gone too well. We haven’t won a match yet because we have too many forfeits,” said Dominic. “ I enjoy coaching, but it can be frustrating because of all the forfeits.”
Senior Dakota Dufek reflected upon the teams chances of winning.
“I believed we were going to do alright; we had a good chance [of winning],”said Dufek.
Seniors lead the team in spirit and teamwork. Most of the varsity wrestling team are seniors and will graduate this year.
With the regular season at an end, the team advances to sectionals, a type of counties for the individual wrestlers. Afterwards, the wrestlers advance to districts, then eventually to states. Juniors Adam Dell, Zach Holloway and Tyler White are only a few wrestlers that have a shot at sectionals.
