The Encore Awards are a way for each school to honor a student that has had an impact on their school theatre.

Theatre Director William Jenkins helped in choosing who got an award for the Encore Awards.

“I chose Erin Kaliszak. Not only has she been with the theatre program throughout her high school career, she has also been an officer of the International Thespian Society. She has been a great cheerleader and support for other student actors,” said Jenkins.

The awards, such as Best Male Performance and Most Creative, were given out by the other judges.

Jenkins also had one other person discuss with him who got the awards, but overall he made the final decision.

Jenkins feels these students deserve these awards mainly because of how hard they all have worked.

“[They] have gone even further and are the engine that keeps the theatre going, and are role models for the underclassmen to look up to,” said Jenkins.

Senior Kaleb Fair earned an award for Best Male Actor.

“I feel very honored because I love so many people that are involved with theatre in York County,” said Fair.

Fair participates in the theatre because he had experience in theatre in middle school and he just loved doing it.

“To have won that award and to have so many people congratulate me and to have them believe I deserved it was just so honorable,” said Fair. “It takes a lot of time and dedication, but in all, throughout the process of rehearsing for the musical I’m drawing on the skills I’ve developed.”
