Shedding for summer

It is almost time to start shedding that extra layer of insulation that formed on our bodies over the winter.
Usually we remember that hot sun means swimsuits about a month before we break out the bikinis–when it is too late to slim down.
For the Pinterest lovers, it is easy to be proactive.  So while you’re pinning pictures of cute swimsuits, watermelon lemonade, and colorful shorts, try finding some exercise routines to start toning your body.
Pinterest offers a cache of exercise routines that take no longer than ten minutes but also provide a great workout.
The following is a seven day workout–originally pinned by “Back On Pointe”–that will make you bust your butt!

Some of these exercises may be new to you, so here they are explained:
Supermans: Lie on stomach, lift arms and legs off the ground, and hold.
Russian twists: Sitting on the ground, lift your feet up, turn your upper body while touching the ground with your hands, and turn to the other side, completing one twist.
Incline push-ups: Elevate your feet using a chair, and do a push-up.
Wall push-up: Stand just beyond arm’s length from a wall, lean forward, and do a push-up.
Bird-dogs: On your hands and knees, lift your left arm and opposite leg to become completely straight, and then carefully switch sides.
Jack Knife sit-ups: Lie on back, raise arms overhead while keeping legs straight, and move torso as a regular sit-up (only raise arms and and legs until you touch your toes).
Inner thigh lifts: Lie on side, propping yourself on your elbow, place the foot of your top leg on the ground in front of you, lift lower leg up and down, and when done, do the same thing on the other side.

Extra Tips:
Make sure to include 20 minutes of cardio 2 to 3 times a week.
You don’t have to do all the exercises at once; you can spread them throughout the day.
If the routine isn’t for you, or it gets old, get pinning! There are plenty more for you to find.
My legs hurt after one day, and I have been swimming for the past several months.  Mix this with some cardio, and you’ve got a great workout.  I’ll be using this when the swim season is over! So go get ready for bikinis and those form-fitting prom dresses on time this year.
