The Susquehannock student team won the secondary Battle of the Buildings trophy for 2018.

Administrators, teachers, staff, and students from the Southern York County School District recently participated in the 10th annual Battle of the Buildings competition to raise money for scholarships for seniors at Susquehannock High School and support Susquehannock Alumni programs.

The event raised a total of $10,319 for the Southern York County School District Foundation and the Susquehannock Alumni Association. Teams from each of the schools and a team of high school students competed in various races and events. Fans supporting their favorite teams filled the Susquehannock High School gym and cheered on the participants.

The evening was a fun-filled, all-ages family experience. The high school students enjoyed seeing their former teachers and competing against their current teachers. Susquehannock senior Jason Weger was a member of the winning student team. “The Battle of the Buildings is an important event, because it is great for students to come out and cheer for their teams and their teachers,” said Weger. The Susquehannock student team was proud to claim the winning trophy this year.

There is one secondary and one elementary team winner of the Battle of the Buildings’ competition. Southern Elementary School and Susquehannock High School students finished with the most points and captured this year’s Battle of the Buildings’ trophies. Friendship Elementary School earned this year’s Battle of the Buildings Spirit Award.

This year’s event was organized by the Southern York County School District Foundation, Susquehannock’s All Sports Booster Club and the Susquehannock Alumni Association. It is the first time all three organizations combined efforts to run the Battle of the Buildings.
