5 Last Minute Tips for SAT Prep

By Leah Miller, Reporter

Susquehannock hosted the SAT on Saturday, March 10.

With the test quickly approaching, many students are starting to feel the stress and pressure that comes with taking the SAT.

Here are a few last minute tips on how to study and prepare for the test.

Tip #1: Review your Weakest Areas.

While studying the last few days before the test, it is important to focus on the areas that you are the weakest.

By reviewing and analyzing your past mistakes, you will be more confident when you come across difficult questions on the test.

Tip #2: Get Enough Sleep

When taking the SAT, it is important to be well rested.

Go to bed early the night before to guarantee you will not be tired.

To make sure you are fully awake for the test, wake up an hour earlier than you need to, so you are alert and focused.

Tip #3: Eat Breakfast

Before taking the test you want to make sure you eat breakfast so that your focus is only on the test in front of you.

Taking a test hungry can distract your mind and negatively affect your test results.

You should also bring a snack and water with you, so you can eat and hydrate during the breaks.

Because Susquehannock is a nut free school, make sure all snacks do not contain nuts.

Tip #4: Come Prepared

Before heading in to take the test, make sure you remember to bring the following items:

  • Your Admission ticket
  • Photo ID
  • Two #2 pencils (not mechanical)  and an eraser
  • Calculator

Tip #5: Never Leave a Question Blank

If you come to a question that you do not know the answer to, always make an educated guess.

Using the process of elimination is a simple way to narrow down answers.

The new SAT does not penalize you for incorrect answers, so it is better to put something down than nothing at all.

All SAT takers should be at the school by 7:45 a.m. on Saturday morning with their admission ticket and photo ID.
