Susquehannock High School art students recently participated in The York Community Arts Scholars Exhibition through York College in York, PA.
Susquehannock students Stevie King, Taylor Stenley, Sarah Minacci, Brady Monck, Lucy Curran, and Gabby Brady displayed their artwork at the York Center for Community Engagement. Work from nine different York County high schools were in the show. Winners of the contest are eligible to win scholarships and other prize money.
Of the 23 pieces the Susquehannock students entered in the display, 13 where chosen to advance to the Finalist Exhibition at Marketview Arts Gallery Hall in York. A reception was held on November 3, 2017 during which the winners were announced. Student Stevie King won a juror’s choice award.
Susquehannock art teacher Wade Bowers said the entire event was a great hands-on opportunity for his students. “The students had to professionally matte and hang their own artwork in the gallery for the show,” said Bowers. “It was important for them to participate in the York Community Arts Scholars Exhibition to be able to experience showing their work for others to view and enjoy,” he said.
