Susquehannock Volleyball Team ‘Digs Pink’ to Raise Funds

Susquehannock High School’s girls volleyball team is raising money to increase breast cancer awareness through their ‘Dig Pink’ Side-Out Foundation fundraising campaign. The team hosted a Southern York County School District luncheon, a car wash, and are selling ‘Dig Pink’ t-shirts to raise money for the foundation.  The team will host a ‘Dig Pink’ volleyball game versus Kennard Dale High School on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Susquehannock High School.

“This is a great way to bring athletics and our Southern York County School District community together to support a great cause,” said Darla Pennewill, Susquehannock girls volleyball coach and physical education teacher at Southern Middle School. “Unfortunately, many of us have been touched by cancer in some way, and our volleyball players are learning the true meaning of teamwork on and off the court,” she said. “They are working together with the District staff in support of their cause.”

The team raised over $1,835 so far during various fundraisers.  They will continue to sell the ‘Dig Pink’ t-shirts until the volleyball game on October 10, 2017 to add to their fundraising total.

The ‘Pink Out’ fundraiser encourages high schools and colleges across the nation to ‘Dig Pink’ this October at their matches to raise money for breast cancer awareness and is sponsored by the Side-Out Foundation. The foundation supports health care professionals in their pursuit of practical solutions for those women and men who are diagnosed with breast cancer, enabling them to regain control of their lives.
