Susquehannock Field Hockey Hosted Alumni Field Hockey Game
September 22, 2017
The Susquehannock High School Field Hockey program recently hosted a Susquehannock High School Alumni Field Hockey Game. The event raised money for Keystone Pet Enhanced Therapy Services (K-PETS).
Susquehannock High School freshmen Lauren Schefter and Madison Bateman came up with the idea for the alumni field hockey game and organized the project during their 8th grade year at Southern Middle School. The game was open to Susquehannock field hockey alumni as well as current high school, middle school, and elementary school players. There were 15 returning alumni as well as current Susquehannock field hockey players who participated in the game on August 5, 2017.
“We split the alumni and current players to make two competitive teams,” said Susquehannock varsity field hockey coach Tracey Kerr. “There was a lot of laughter and fun during the game, and the older alumni were excited to play on our turf field,” she said. “I heard many memories of past teams and coaches being shared, and the alumni were impressed with how great our facilities are now,” said Kerr.
Through admission sales and concessions, $385 was raised for K-PETS, a local non-profit pet therapy network which provides services to facilities and agencies in South Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland.
