Susquehannock High School students recently placed in the regional competition of the Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair with two first place and two second place finishes.  The first place finishers in each category of the regional contest advance to the state competition.

In the logo category, junior Stevie King won first place and senior Emily Hellwig won second place.  In the graphic design category, senior Jessica McDonald won first place and senior Stephanie Gardecki won second place.  Senior Colton Mumley also participated in the web page design category.  Both King and McDonald qualified for the state competition.

The regional competition was comprised of student entries from York, Adams, and Franklin Counties. The Susquehannock students competed in three categories:  logo design, graphic design, and web page design.  In the logo design category, students created a logo for the Pennsylvania Computer Fair which will be used for advertising and branding.  In the graphic design category, students created a logo and various branding products for a fictitious pet related business.  In the web page design category, students were required to design a website.

Susquehannock art teacher Wade Bowers was very proud of his students’ work.  “All five of these students went above and beyond what the original expectations were for this project.  In a very humble way, I could see how proud they were when they stepped back and looked at their work at the show,” said Bowers.  “Their talent and hard work represented themselves and our school in such a tremendous fashion,” he said.

The state competition of the Pennsylvania High School Computer Fair is scheduled for May 23, 2017 at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.
