Gather around for some festive tv

Whether it is an old or new tradition, families around the country sit cuddled around their televisions to enjoy some new and old holiday favorites.

The different holiday movies and TV shows are endless, not to mention the long list of yearly specials that are continuously playing.

There are the old classic specials, such as ABC Family’s 25 days of Christmas, and the TBS network’s 24 hour playing of the Christmas Story.

Sophomore Jake Shenk will be tuning in to the yearly special.

A Christmas Story is my favorite Christmas special,” said Shenk. “It’s a tradition in my family to watch it.  It’s hilarious.”

The ABC Family special includes the old claymation classics, including The Year Without a Santa Clause, and newer movies like Santa Baby.

Holiday specials aren’t always family friendly however, with shows like The Jeff Dunham’s Very Special Christmas Special playing on Comedy Central.

Something for the girls of the group may be the ongoing holiday movies that the

Lifetime network has been playing.  Boasting an array of romantic comedies and heart warming “chick-flicks.”

Child Care teacher Cassie Timcheck is a lover of this particular type of Christmas flick.

“I’m a sucker for all of those,” said Timcheck. “I love those sappy Christmas movies, I always fall for them.”

Networks everywhere however have made new holiday episodes of their top shows.

Nickelodeon has made yet another Spongebob special. In this version, the characters are displayed in a classic claymation style rather than the normal animation.

To add a little more humor to the season, the TV Guide Network has made a new countdown show also, this time counting the 25 Funniest Holiday TV Moments.

So this cold season, grabs some blankets, cocoa, and your favorite cookies to munch on while the whole family enjoys some festive TV.
