The Southern York County School District Foundation/Dollars for Scholars (SYCSDF/DFS) is pleased to offer a new scholarship opportunity for the Susquehannock Class of 2017, the “Lynda Johnson Sheffer Book Award.”

The scholarship is in honor of Lynda Johnson Sheffer, Susquehannock Class of 1969.  Sheffer dedicated her 42-year career at Head Start of York County to helping disadvantaged children in our area.  This award will assist a graduating Susquehannock senior who attended Head Start to purchase books or other media in his or her first-year of college or technical school.  Endowment funding for the Lynda Johnson Sheffer Book Award has been provided by a grateful former Head Start student of Mrs. Sheffer.

Through the Southern York County School District Foundation, there are a total of 167 scholarships available.  With the addition of the Lynda Johnson Sheffer Book Award, the Foundation now has 40 permanently endowed scholarships and awards.  The application period is open from January 11 through February 12, 2017 on the Foundation’s website at http://www.sycsd.org/syc_foundation.cfm?subpage=59565.
