The new animated movie, Sing, was released to movie theaters with people of all ages going to view it.

I did not have very high expectations when I went to see this movie, but it was pleasantly surprising. The latest animated movies that have come out were not impressive to me because they seemed very childish, but this one had a more mature sense of humor and was more relatable. For anyone that enjoys music, it is a very entertaining watch.

The movie gives some insight into the struggles of being involved in the music industry in this day and age but portrays this in a light, easy to understand way.

The main character is Buster Moon, a koala that owns a theatre and is struggling to make ends meet. However, there is a change in tune when he comes up with the idea of hosting a singing competition with people from the town.

The movie highlights multiple successful performers such as the voices of  Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Reese Witherspoon, and Jennifer Hudson. Sing is filled with fantastic covers of popular music like “Crazy in Love,” “Stay With Me” and “Shake it Off”, due to having such a talented cast. All of the music is really catchy and adds to an even more entertaining film.

The variety of characters and differing personalities in the film makes it easy to find one to relate to. From introverts to go getters, the movie features all different types of characters.

This movie holds a great balance by adding comedy but still incorporating great life lessons. The main theme of the movie is to keep working towards your dreams even when life seems to be against you. It is a great message to portray to people of all generations and is enjoyable for everyone.

Whether you’re a musician yourself or just appreciate listening to good music, this movie is a must see for people of all ages.
