Susquehannock High School has ranked among the top 85 public high schools in Pennsylvania for 2016, according to a report from U.S. News and World Report.

In its annual ranking of high schools, U.S. News ranked Susquehannock at 57th for the best high schools across the state from the total of 952 Pennsylvania public high schools. More than 28,000 schools were evaluated to determine the top public high schools nationally, within all 50 states, and the District of Columbia.

U.S. News used the following criteria to determine the rankings:

  • Overall student performance on state-required tests
  • How effectively schools educate their disadvantaged students
  • High graduation rates
  • How well schools prepared students for college based on participation in and performance on AP and IB exams.

“Students are successful in high school when they have received the highest quality of instruction beginning in kindergarten,’ Superintendent Dr. Sandra Lemmon said. “They feel loved, safe, have pride in their school, and want to be in school each day. It takes the entire Southern staff to create this environment. We could not be more proud of our students and all of our staff.”
