The Warrior football team had their homecoming game against New Oxford, which ended with a score of 38-12.  The game was on Friday, October 19.  Head coach Bill Kerr knew the team, heading into the game, was prepared.  “I think our kids were prepared.  They were excited [and] ready to play.  But, unfortunately, we couldn’t get the job done and momentum turned in their favor late in the first half,” said Kerr.  “We were never able to grab the momentum back in the second half.”  In the first quarter, Susky got an eight-yard touchdown but missed the two-point conversion.  New Oxford had a field goal and a touchdown to end the first quarter with ten points, making the score 10-6.  People in the crowd were ready for the second quarter to begin, since the score was so close.  The second quarter began with a touchdown by New Oxford.  New Oxford got another touchdown later, ending the second quarter with the score 24-6 New Oxford.

theme involving Soviet Russia.  Senior Emily Cox especially enjoyed the halftime show.  “I thought it was really amazing because [the people involved] were really good at playing [their instruments] and twirling [their batons],” said Cox.  As the third quarter commenced, the crowd was anxious for the game to continue.  A fog had started to fall over the field, but onlookers were still able to observe the plays.  Junior guard and defensive end Billy Myers believes that the fog did affect the outcome of the game.  “[The fog] was awful; you couldn’t see the other sidelines,” said Myers.  New Oxford got two more touchdowns, ending the third quarter with a score of 33-6.  However, Susky continued with confidence and got the only touchdown in the fourth quarter, ending the game with a score of 38-12.  Even though Susky did not win, they were very active and worked hard.  Kerr believes that the offense contributed a lot to the game.  “Offensively, I thought we did a great job moving the ball,” said Kerr.  “Fumbles really hurt us, especially the fumble late in the second quarter.”

Injuries were prominent throughout the entire season.  Three starters are out for the rest of the season, including Junior Sam Miller, who is the safety on defense, tailback on offense, punter, and kicker, Senior David Fodel who is a linebacker and full back, and Senior Kyle Vecere who is a defensive back.  “Injuries really plagued us this year, unfortunately,” Kerr explained.  Freshman Shannon Berg enjoyed the homecoming football game.  “[The homecoming game] was the best one I went to [this season] because the players did well,” Berg said.  Regardless of the loss, Susky football players showed perseverance and strength during the homecoming football game.
