S.A.D.D., which stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions, worked throughout the fall and winter to prepare a presentation for students at Southern Elementary School. Southern Elementary Guidance Counselor Michelle Brengle collaborated with S.A.D.D. to make the event a reality.

The presentation was inspired by a video that facilitates a conversation for young students about their differences and how to work through adversity. With the help of video production student Chris Coulson, S.A.D.D. produced a video to be used as a teaching tool in future plans. S.A.D.D. is open to all students who are willing to bring awareness to common problems that teens and other age groups might encounter.

S.A.D.D. member Alex Maynard summarizes the organization’s goal.  “S.A.D.D. is a club where we try to encourage kids to not give in to peer pressure in the sense of drugs and alcohol,” said Maynard.

Members of S.A.D.D. are often busy, so the organization tends to tackle one event at a time. Advisor Matt Amberman noted that S.A.D.D. has another large, unannounced event planned for the spring.
