Kaleb was featured in a trio with juniors Addie Achterberg and Lina Waterstradt named “I’ve Decided to
Marry You” from the musical
A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder. He also had a duet with his best friend sophomore Brendan Paules, “For Good” from the musical Wicked.

Junior Claire Morrison loved the role that Kaleb portrayed in his performances.

“He was incredible, and you could tell he was so excited to be there,” said Morrison. “You could tell that he loves to perform. It was really awesome to watch.”

Sophomore and piano player for the choir Justin Feild witnessed Fair’s performances up close.

“Kaleb did a great job representing the choir,” said Feild. “He showed what hard work and dedication can do in this ensemble. He is a really good role model for the rest of the choir kids.”

There were a lot of people looking forward to this concert since it was a new addition this year. Also, show tunes are more popular among young people than the classical choir music, so it was something that a lot of people could relate to.

Fair talks about how happy everyone was with the turnout.

“The turnout by far exceeded my expectations,” said Fair. “All of the seats were filled, and we had to bring in more chairs, and there were still people standing in the back. The place was packed.”

By all means, the concert was a huge success.

“I think all of the songs were amazing,” said Fair. “We only had five weeks to get everything together, even four and a half for some of the solo pieces that still needed to be approved. Especially since some of the songs were completely arranged by students and had to be rehearsed on their own, we really did a phenomenal job.”

Although it is hard to pick just one portion of the concert as a favorite, Fair enjoyed the solos.

“It was really a great way for people to shine. My good friend Michaela Bryan sang ‘Somewhere that’s Green’ from Little Shop of Horrors. You could really see it in her performance that she had an absolutely captivated audience. Also, after my song of ‘I’ve Decided to Marry You’ there was thundering applause for several minutes, and it was a great feeling…The concert really showed all of the hard work that the choir puts in,” said Fair. “There seems to be this attitude towards the music department where it’s not cool to be in it, but there really was a great reaction to the show and everyone really loved it.”

Fair’s innate singing ability and his sincere care for the music department make him a multi-talented student. Be sure to watch for what the choir is up to next.
