Art Field Trip Helps Students Experience their Studies

The language department took their level three students on a field trip to an art museum in Philadelphia Tuesday, April 7.

French teacher Stephanie South was one of the teachers that brought her students along, and she happens to be very pleased with the outcome.

“We had a really interesting tour guide and that made the entire trip much more interesting,” said South. “It was a great day spent focused on art.”

South is, along with her fellow colleagues, very dedicated to providing hands on activities for her students, and this trip was just another way to allow them to grasp what exactly they are learning about.

“The purpose was to connect what we’ve learned so far to the painting and how we tried to connect history to school work,” said South.

This was the third year South had taken part in the trip. She plans to have many more trips organized in the future.

Spanish teacher Michaela Rayburn also took part in this trip with some of her students.

“My favorite part of the trip was being able to see the artist and the paintings,” said Rayburn. “It was nice to watch the students make the connections between the two. All of the students were engaged and interested.”

Sophomore Elizabeth Ayers was one of the forty students that took part in the field trip.

“I like going to museums and learning about any art, and it was really cool to see the art we’d been learning about in class,” said Ayers.
Ayers had an incredible time on the trip and was happy to spend time looking at art and talking with the actual artist. She happens to think that even more trips like these should be planned for students to really grasp what they are learning about. Hopefully, more opportunities like this one are in the making.
