Golf advances to districts

After competing in counties, Susquehannock golf advances to districts, represented by sophomore Caleb Bryant.

Leading into counties, the entire team worked very hard, placing third in every game played.

Bryant credits his success to the team’s different in-depth practices.

The first practice is around two hours where athletes are on the course playing all nine holes, really setting them up for a game-like situation.

The second practice is a practice that is slightly shorter where they mainly just work on putting green skills.

Despite his age and experience, he has excelled, and upperclassmen, including junior Dan Ferraro, have taken notice.

“We’re definitely younger this year. Last year, I think we had five seniors, and now we don’t have any seniors,” Ferraro adds. “But this year we’re a lot more consistent.”

This consistency brings ease to many of the players, which gave them the confidence to do well in counties.

When asked about the amount of pressure that goes along with playing the game at a now higher level, junior Alec Lebo expressed his certainty for success.

“For me, I feel like there’s no pressure at all, to be honest,” said Lebo. “I just do what I do every other time I play golf.”

The calmness during the season games must have had an influential effect on Bryant because when he competed in counties he was more composed than ever.

“I was successful by keeping my head in the game and staying positive and focused throughout the entire round,” said Bryant.

This ease for the game, combined with the talent of this young player supported by his team, are both contributing factors to the hopeful outcome of a district victory.
