Work Permit Information and Instructions

Direct questions to the Main Office, hours 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., at 717-235-4811 Ext. 4237 or 4238 The Pennsylvania Department of Labor requires any minor working in the state of Pennsylvania between the ages of 14 and 18 to obtain a work permit.  All work permits in the state of Pennsylvania are now transferable from job to job in the state of Pennsylvania.  This process will only need to be completed one time. Minors choosing to work in MD can obtain an application and instructions at http://www.dllr.state.md.us/ Click on Minor Work Permit under the Quick Links section (bottom right corner). The applicant or parent can obtain the Work Permit Application below.

          1. The applicant or parent may come to the Office to complete the work permit application. If the applicant or parent has proof of age, the Office will copy it for our file.Acceptable proofs of age are birth certificate, learners permit, driver’s license, passport, baptismal certificate.  If the parent is present and provides proof of age, the Office will issue the work permit immediately.

 

 

 

          1. If no proof of age is presented, the Office will hold the application until proof of age is obtained.  Once proof of age is obtained the Office will then immediately issue the work permit to the student or parent.

 

 

 

          1. If the parent is not present, the Office will complete the application and send the form home with the student to obtain a parent’s signature.Once the signed application is returned to the Office and proof of age has been verified, the work permit will be issued immediately.
