Girls volleyball celebrated its seniors Tuesday while playing against the Gettysburg Warriors, marking the last time that seniors Abigail Bentz, Stephanie Bortner, Ashley Bortner, Kaila Glenn, Kerrie DeFelice, and Brittney Fitzgerald will ever play a game on their own court.

Junior Laura Savin and other underclassmen put a lot of work into the night.

“We made the night a fiesta theme,” said Savin. “I thought we did a really nice job, and it was also nice to sweep our opponent in three games.”

The Warriors dominated their opponent, defeating Gettysburg in three games, winning the first game 25-9, the second 25-21, and the final game 26-24. Kaila Glenn was happy to be a part of such a night.

“The juniors and underclassmen really did a great job,” said Glenn. “It was awesome walking into the team room and seeing it all decorated all just for us. It was even better to go out onto the court and beat our opponent in the manner that we did. It was all just really refreshing.”

Brittney Fitzgerald was more than pleased with how the night turned out.

“[Senior Night] was very emotional,” said Fitzgerald. “It was so nice what the underclassmen did. They decorated the team room with a ‘club’ theme, with glow sticks everywhere. The best part was winning in just three games.”

The girls defeated West York on Thursday, and will play again next week Monday and Tuesday in counties. After counties, the team will have the opportunity to play in districts the following week, and possibly the state tournament. This team’s season is far from over.
