‘Walking Dead’ saunters by for third season

Screen shot taken from Netflix by Caitlin Garrett

The Walking Dead came to a close on March 31 with the season three finale, and now viewers are tuning in to watch other shows that are just as intoxicating.

From zombies, space travel, medieval times, spies, to serial murderers, there’s a whole bunch of shows to catch up on this year.

On March 31, one of the most watched shows on television came to a close with an end people will not forget- one of the most loved characters was bitten. But fear not, The Walking Dead is scheduled to return in October.

Now while the zombie apocalypse is paused, Game of Thrones takes the seat for different battles. Based in medieval times, the show revolves around seven families fighting for the land of Westeros. The Games of Thrones is so popular that there were 4.4 million viewers on the 31, according to Techcrunch.

Despite their appearance, The Americans are not the average family. Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings, played by Matthew Rhys and Kerl Russell, are actually two KGB (military forces similar to the Soviet Army) spies posing as a normal family in Washington, D.C after Ronald Reagan is elected. Their two children, played by Holly Taylor and Keldrich Sellatl, have no clue about their parents’ true identity. Of course, there’s always conflict in a good story. So soon enough, a new neighbor moves in next to them, which they find out is a FBI agent.

Another one of the most popular shows this year is Doctor Who, a science fiction show returning for its seventh season. New episodes are on Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. As stated on Wikipedia, the show has won many awards such as The British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series in 2006 and has been listed in the Guinness World Records book for longest running science fiction show in the world.

And of course, one of the longest running series on television is Dexter, debuting in 2006. The show Dexter follows the life of Dexter Morgan who works for the Miami Metro Police Department, yet he leads a secret life as a serial killer. Michael Hall, Dexter, has received seven nominations and a golden Globe for his character on the show. Fans eagerly anticipate season 8, which is planned to air on June 30.

Whether it be space travel, medieval times, or zombies, viewers have multiple shows to choose from with appeal.
