Make the summer of 2017 the best yet. With the end of school so near, summer vacation is on everyone’s minds. Here are some summer vacation ideas for those who need a little inspiration:

Day Trips

  • Aquarium/Zoo- Spending a day seeing cute animals is sure to put a smile on people’s faces. With the closest aquarium being in Baltimore and the closest zoos in Baltimore and DC, making a day trip surely will not be difficult. https://aqua.org/
  • Beaches- Bethany, Rehoboth and Ocean City are 2-3 hours away. Grab some friends, get a little tan, and

prepare to have salt in your hair and sand in your toes.

  • Amusement Parks- Imagine spending a day smelling kettle corn and cotton candy, screaming as the roller coaster takes off and laughing at your hideous picture at the end of a ride. Amusement parks are a great way to have fun with friends and family. Visit Hershey Park this summer, as it is the sweetest place on Earth! http://www.hersheypark.com/
  • Restaurant Hopping- What better way to try new restaurants and cuisines by going from one restaurant to the next. Yes, this can be a little expensive, but it’s worth it. An appetizer here, an entrée there and a dessert somewhere else; it is great way to get out and explore new areas, as well as foods.

Affordable

  • Hiking- If you are one with nature, hiking is definitely for you. Being surrounded by streams, trees and flowers can create a very serene and picturesque setting. If hiking for a few

hours, bringing food and having a picnic is a wonderful way to allow you to feel rejuvenated and continue on exploring. There are hiking paths all over York County to choose from, as well as the Appalachian Trail.

  • Kayaking- A day in the sun hearing the sound of the water in the middle of a lake is priceless. Unless you have your own, the only money you would need to spend would be on the kayak itself, which does not cost much if renting. Along with hiking, this is another way to spend a peaceful day in nature.
  • Swimming- Whether it be in the ocean, at a country club or your neighbor’s pool, everyone swims at least once during the summer. It is a great way to cool off from the sun and unwind. And it’s free!
  • Road Trips- Jamming with the windows down with your best friends creates unforgettable memories. Not only will it look like an over dramatic photoshoot with the wind blowing through your hair, but you can explore so many new places. Driving with your friends allows you to stop whenever, so take pictures of cool places and perfect views to remember these moments forever.

Destination Vacations in the US

  • Disney- The most magical place on Earth awaits you! Orlando makes a great vacation spot for families. There

are many amusement parks from the ones in Disney to those in Universal to choose from. All of the parks will leave you with an amazing time. The food, atmosphere and rides are well worth the price. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/

  • Cruises- Although cruises can be quite expensive, different cruise lines will take you to explore to states and sometimes new countries. Many popular cruises travel through Key West, Florida to places in Mexico. It is a great way to experience new cultures and see the world from a different point of view; from the sea, not the land.  https://www.carnival.com/
  • Beaches- Just about everyone in Susky has gone to Maryland and Delaware for beach time. It is time to branch out and go somewhere new. Beaches in the Carolina’s are warmer and less populated, allowing for more privacy and relaxation. Beaches in Florida are picture perfect with white sand and clear oceans. Wherever you choose to spend your beach time, take a week and enjoy yourself. http://ococean.com/
