March 23, 2017
Administrators, teachers, staff, and students from the Southern York County School District recently participated in their annual Battle of the Buildings competition to raise money for the Southern York County School District Foundation’s scholarship program.
The event raised more than $6,350 for student scholarships. Teams from each of the schools and a team of high school students competed in various races and events. Fans supporting their favorite teams filled the Susquehannock High School gym and cheered on the participants. Teams competed in events including the William Tell relay, tic-tac-toe relay, shark bait relay, bat the balloon relay, vortex cup challenge, scooter basketball, and tunnel race.
Two teams won the Battle of the Buildings’ competition, including an elementary and a secondary winner. Friendship Elementary School and Susquehannock High School staff finished with the most points and captured this year’s Battle of the Buildings’ trophies. Southern Middle School’s team also earned this year’s Battle of the Buildings Spirit Award.
Susquehannock athletic director Brad Keeney organized the event. “Battle of the Buildings provides a unique opportunity to unite the Warrior Family and build school spirit while raising money for a great cause,” said Keeney.
