5 fun dessert recipes to try for the holidays

Food, family, and friends: that’s what the holidays are all about. So once the family and friends are present all there’s left to deal with is the food.

After the long meals of turkey, chicken, or pork, most look for a sweet treat to finish off the meal.

One fun holiday treat that pleases most is peppermint bark, featuring crushed candy canes and white chocolate. This delicious dessert is a fun way to jazz up the regular old candy canes. Very similar to the texture of peanut brittle, peppermint bark is a great holiday crunch.

Everyone loves a good cupcake but for your next party or get-together spice up the small treats with a Christmas tree topper. By just adding a small sugar ice cream cone to the top of your favorite cupcake and adding some swirls of green frosting you’ll make any old boring cupcake into a masterpiece.

The spirit of the holidays is everywhere around the world, one of the most decorated places being New York. So what better to try this winter than the Serendipity’s “Frrrozen hot chocolate” recipe?

Serendipity 3 in New York is a popular restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. It is a favorite among locals, tourists, and celebrities. Their “Frrrozen hot chocolate” is their trademark menu item.

Senior Allison Seabrease is a huge fan.

“It’s really different than anything I’ve ever had,” said Seabrease. “I’ve never heard of frozen hot chocolate before. It was just really unique and good.”

This knockoff recipe features a variety of your favorite chocolates, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings.

A perfect pairing to go with this icy drink would be a big plate of cookies.

Chocolate chip kiss cookies are very similar in structure to Hershey kiss peanut butter cookies but have a more seasonal flavor. Featuring a Hershey kiss pressed into the dough, these treats have a sweet chocolate taste. These cookies are made up of chocolate chip cookie dough and topped with cinnamon, nutmeg, and powdered sugar.

That is why red velvet cheesecake swirl brownies are great for this time of year.

The combination of some cocoa powder, red food coloring, cream cheese, and much more end in the perfection of this delicious chocolate treat.
