Two Southern York County School District educators were recently honored at Shippensburg University’s Outstanding Teacher Recognition Luncheon.  Shrewsbury Elementary third grade teacher Missy Taylor, and Kayse Corrieri, Susquehannock High School library media specialist, were recognized as ‘Outstanding Teachers.’

Taylor began her 25th year in teaching as a Shrewsbury Elementary School third grade teacher. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from York College.  She received a graduate degree in Elementary Education from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College).

Corrieri, a library media specialist, recently began her 17th year at Susquehannock High School.  She is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in English Literature.  She earned her graduate degree from McDaniel College in School Library Media and Instructional Media.

The educators were selected for their outstanding service to their school communities based on their commitment to effective teaching, their dedication to their students, their commitment to ongoing professional development, as well as for utilizing innovative practices in the classroom and for serving in leadership roles in their schools.

The annual event is sponsored by the Shippensburg University School Study Council, a partnership between public school districts and the University, which supports school system leaders in improving the instructional experience.

“Congratulations are extended to Missy Taylor and Kayse Corrieri, who are very deserving of this award,” said Dr. Sandra Lemmon, Superintendent of Southern York County School District.
