Juniors Beat Seniors in Powder Puff Game

By Madison Gillespie, Sports Editor

Juniors and seniors participated in a powder puff game with girls playing football and guys cheering on Wednesday, October 12.

The juniors ultimately ended up winning the game with a close score of 28-24.

Both teams have been working hard with their players so that they may come up with the best strategy to win the game.

Photography teacher Wade Bowers has been a coach for ten years now and was looking forward to the game.

“I just love the excitement, and it’s two practices, and then it’s game time,” said Bowers.

The game on Wednesday was just that, full of constant struggle for the lead between the junior and senior teams.

Offensive lineman  junior Holly Bull bluntly expressed her excitement.

“I felt that I did well because our team ended up winning,” said Bull.

Juniors were not the only ones who did well in the game; the seniors put up a good fight till the end of the fourth quarter.

While this was a disappointing loss, senior Kayla Gemmill, who plays defense, still encouraged future players.

“It is fun, and do it,” said Gemmill.

Bowers also had his own reasons for coaching our powder puff teams all these years.

“I miss coaching. I used to coach junior high football, and it is just one way to help out with upclass, their powder puff rivalry,” said Bowers.

Overall, both teams played an amazing game, and the juniors look forward to playing next year.
