The First Tee of Greater Baltimore sent Susquehannock High School junior golfer Kendel Abrams to compete in the 2016 Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, an official PGA TOUR Champions event that was held September 13-18, 2016.

Abrams is a starter on Susquehannock’s varsity golf team. She was a county medalist and played in the Division High School Golf Championship. Three years ago, Kendel developed a program called “Grasp Girls with Golf” to get more girls to play golf. She has been in The First Tee of Greater Baltimore program for three years.

“I applied last year and was not selected. It taught me to not give up on my dreams, continue to work hard, and stay positive. I was ecstatic to see my name on the screen of the Golf Channel as a participant that has been selected for 2016,” Abrams said. “I know this experience will be one to remember for the rest of my life.”

Abrams was paired with golf legend Jay Haas and met celebrity Alphonso Ribeiro. She was 5 under par with two rounds of play at Poppy Hills and Pebble Beach.
