As an end of the year project, the choir students have been presenting their hidden talents through an activity called Choir Idol.

Choir Idol is a chance for students to pick what song they want to sing as a solo or in a small group in front of the rest of the choir and whoever else wants to watch.

Junior Alli Reed really enjoys watching everyone’s performances at choir.

“It’s great to see the talent that you didn’t even know was here all along,” said Reed. “I give them serious credit for being able to perform in front of all of these people by themselves. It must be really nerve-wracking.”

Sophomore Hannah Munch performed music from National Choir with friends Julia Twaddle, Kelsey McCullough and Julia Kelbaugh.

“I was a little nervous to sing in front of everyone,” said Munch. “But it made it better to have other people singing with me… I think it’s a cool opportunity for the students in the choir to have.”

Junior Emily Snyder likes to see the self-expression that Choir Idol gives all of the students that participate.

“We get to see everyone’s personality through the music they pick,” said Snyder. “It’s a good outlet for the individual and musical expression.”

Choir Idol is a great way for the musicians to be able to enjoy the end of the year. Instead of just having a study hall after their last concert, they get to work together to share music that expresses their personality and passion.

Be sure to watch for all of the great talent being discovered at the beginning of the next year in their fall
concert.
