The Southern York County School District earned two awards in a state-wide annual publications contest. Susquehannock High School’s student-run digital newspaper, The Courier as well as the Alumni newsletter, The Alumni Pride, were recognized by the Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association (PennSPRA) and have received Awards of Honor for Electronic Newsletter/Communications.

The annual contest recognizes winners in 12 different categories, from printed newsletters, annual reports, and calendars to videos, advertising, communication plans, and electronic communication pieces. Both newsletters were judged in various areas, including layout and design, writing, appearance, and how well the messages were targeted to the specific audiences.

In their critiques, the judges found that The Courier has an overall strong layout, well written articles, and great content. In addition, The Alumni Pride has a creative layout along with well written and informative articles.

“Congratulations to Sara Cieslewicz, Susquehannock High School Journalism Teacher, the students of the Courier Staff, and to Mark Rill, Coordinator of Marketing & Public Information, for their outstanding efforts with these two initiatives,” said Superintendent Sandra Lemmon.
