Warrior Softball: Division Champs

The softball team was able to clinch the top of its division after beating the Dover Eagles on their home turf 9-0. Earlier this season when the Warriors hosted the Eagles, the game went into 12 extra innings which came out to be a 2 hour and 45-minute game. Both teams fought hard to the end, but the Warriors were able to pull out a 7-6 win on freshman Anna Bryan’s base hit to centerfield that scored runners, Maddy Staub and Ally Kerr.

“It feels satisfying. It’s nice to know that all of our hard work the past four years is finally catching up, and we’re excited to see where the rest of post-season play takes us,” said Kerr.

Mackenzie Gibson had similar sentiments.  “Being division champs is such a good accomplishment because it puts us one step closer towards our other post-season goals. Last year, I felt like we should’ve clenched it, but it slipped away from us, so it’s great we were able to deliver this year.”

Anna Bryan, the freshman powerhouse, closed the interview. “I think division champs is great. We all worked really hard this season to reach our goals; it’s been team effort,” said Bryan.

The Warriors are not finished yet though. Post-season play has yet to even start, but with the way these Warriors are playing, they definitely are not going down without a fight. With two more regular season games against Northern and West York, the Warriors have managed a 13-3 record this season, not only putting them first in their division, but also the number one seed in the county tournament starting May 16 and 17, and the number four seed in the district tournament starting May 24.
