SHS Student Performs in Multiple PMEA Festivals

A Susquehannock High School multi-instrumentalist recently participated in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Orchestra and will also perform in the upcoming District 7 Jazz Band festival.

Sophomore Lucas Sherman, orchestra violinist, placed first chair at the Regional Orchestra Festival in February and qualified for the state festival. Musicians from 94 high schools across the state were represented at the state festival. Howard Hsu, Music Director of the Valdosta State University Symphony Orchestra, served as guest conductor for the festival, which was held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.

In addition, Sherman will also perform tenor sax in the District 7 Jazz Band Festival, which will be held April 15-16, 2016 at Hershey High School in Hershey. The concert, which will be directed by Rick Hirsh and Darren Petit, takes place April 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

“The Music Department is very proud of Lucas and his musical accomplishments,” Orchestra Teacher Zach Levi said.
