Crêpes play a huge part in the French culture, so there is no better way to engage students in French club than by having them make crêpes themselves.

From Nutella and berry filled to chocolate flavored and whipped cream topped, French Club members spent their

evening in the food lab creating and enjoying all types of crêpes last Thursday.

President of the club, junior Mackenzie Marzullo thought this activity was rather ideal.

“I really liked the experience of the culture. Even though they might not have been typical French crêpes, it allowed us to get an idea of French cuisine and culture, which is what French club is all about: experiencing French culture,” said Marzullo.

French IV student junior Becca Woods has been a part of French club for 3 years and feels as though this was a great way to really bring out and represent French culture.

“Making crêpes was a fun and delicious way to bring a little bit of France into Susquehannock High School. This was very relevant to the club because French club is about immersing yourself in the French culture,” said Woods.

A variety of toppings were brought in by the students to add to the crêpes. Active French club participant and junior, Danielle Moore, really like the idea of the toppings.

“I really enjoyed how we each got to bring in different toppings. There were raspberry preserves, nutella, strawberries, blueberries, chocolate sauce, honey, whipped cream and more. Each ingredient was fresh tasting with the crêpes and was what I imagined to be eating on non-savory crêpes,” said Moore.

Moore also thought this activity allowed for a great bonding session with the other members.

“It was truly an eye opening experience that allowed me to experience a different

culture and it’s culinary elements. Everyone in the club had fun together making crêpes and bonded over something we all love,” said Moore.

To take part in fun, cultural related activities, join French Club for its next meeting in April.
