Starting off their season with a 2-0 record, the ladies raised some eyebrows, showing improvement from last season.

Already surpassing last year’s wins total, the Warriors started off the season with a full 7-0, beating top tier teams such as repeating champions Donegal and York Suburban by double digits.

Freshman guard Jayla Galbreath feels like the team will go far.

“We will make it to the playoffs and hopefully play well enough to win it all,” Galbreath said.

Then,  they came across cross-town rival Central York. Central was at the top of the standings until they were knocked into second, losing to Red Lion. The Warriors knew this would be a challenge and expected to play their regular brand of basketball but a little tougher. Unfortunately, the Warriors took their first loss of the season that night, losing by 19 to Central. The loss was a lesson to the girls that it was time to step it up and play harder defense.

Senior Ashley Stone felt the loss was a lesson.

“The loss felt different. It was a heads-up that we need to play harder,” said Stone.

The Warriors now stand 10-2 and are still at the top of the standings.   There are 10 games to go until the post-season.
