The cheerleading team has found fresh new faces to add to its spirit squad.

This year’s tryouts consisted of 35  girls trying out for the varsity squad. The girls started off by replicating a dance created by senior captains Nia Bennett and Alexandra Manker.

Bennett was surprised with the girls’ dedication.

“The dance we made was hard, but watching people catch on really caught my eye,” said Bennett.

Manker showed some emotion at tryouts.

“It was a good overall tryouts even though it is my last one,” said Manker.

Coach Jessica Beste was pleased with tryouts overall.

“I saw a lot of growth from the girls, and everything went really well,” said Beste.

After each girl showcased her talents, it was decision time. Out of the 35 girls that tried out, only 15 made it onto the varsity squad.

Manker saw the new girls transitioning well onto varsity.

“They all fit in well; everyone was very prepared,” said Manker,

Coach Beste is excited to see what the new additions will bring to the team.

“They’re great to be around, and I feel they will push the squad to the next level,” said Beste.

This year’s cheerleaders are looking forward to the basketball season to showcase their new talents.
