Expressing her creativity through photography, senior Taylor Reed is named the artist of the month for November.

Reed specializes in photography and has been enrolled in classes since her sophomore year. She originally started with a regular photography course and continued to challenge herself by taking an advanced photography class. After taking both classes, her passion for photography  expanded to taking a photo design seminar.

Her collection being displayed to the public focuses on shape and form mostly with the body.

“I am focusing on the structure and formation of certain body parts like the shoulder, collarbone or neck to express emotion. These photos will mostly have a color scheme of black and white,” said Reed.

Being named artist of the month is a thrilling position to have, to share artwork and creative ideas to the public allows an artist to thrive. Reed can not wait to reveal her work and is  ready for the school to see what she has been working on all these days in class.

Each month a new artist is chosen by  art teacher Wade Bowers. Bowers feels she is a very skilled photographer.

“ Typically I choose a student from my seminar class to represent the artist of the month and also Taylor has a nice body of work completed,” said Bowers.

Classmates and friends also feel strongly about Reed’s hard work and skill. Senior Tess Clancy thinks Reed has a lot of potential.

“I think her artwork is very well planned out, and she always works really hard to get the basics down. Her pictures always comes out great,” said Clancy

Capturing life through a lens creates a feeling of self-expression and opinion. Reed excels in the art of photography and is determined to constantly produce great works of art.
