This is the kind of team that will try to defy all odds. The field hockey team has been preparing all offseason to get to the big prize: a state championship.

Coach Elizabeth Surgui applauds the team’s work ethic.

Senior Julia DeLuca spoke about her team’s potential.

“We really work hard, and coach pushes us even harder but,  it’s all just tough love. In the end she just wants us to be the best we can be,” said DeLuca.

DeLuca also shared her thoughts on her team’s expectations.

“ We want to make it as far into the postseason as we can. We are full of experienced seniors and some new talent, so we should be able to make it pretty far,” De Luca said.

This season gave the team a surprise when there was a freshman that made it onto the varsity team. Her name is Margaret Howels, and she is ready to prove herself.

“ I want to get better on this varsity squad and just help the team win,” said Howels.
