Granite

The eyes of the man I face follow mine

Skimming the names etched in time

Black granite carved in a perfect line

Millions of men who went before their time

Into the furnace they were thrown

Prepared to die, prepared to go

Brothers who cried their battle song

And died like heroes going home

This is for the ones who give their lives

So we can sleep in peace tonight

You left your family to fight our fight

You sacrificed for what was right

You fight to see those better days

You met with hatred, face to face

You raised your fist as the flag was raised

Godspeed, God bless, and come home safe
